Following a break for winter, Casa Angelina is back open for business – and it’s better than ever before
Refusing to rest on its laurels, Casa Angelina is blazing a trail this year with a plethora of new offerings. This season, it’s all about authentic experiences that immerse guests in the wonders of the Amalfi Coast, from a spa treatment drawing on fragrant orange blossom, to hand painting ceramic tiles in a nod to Italian craftsmanship and indulging in a culinary one-on-one with a Campania chef.
Down to a fine art
The Amalfi Coast is famed for its exquisite handmade ceramics: more than just homeware, the intricate designs are beautiful works of art. For the first time ever, Casa Angelina is teaming up with Ceramiche Parlato to offer guests a chance to learn more about this traditional Italian skill.
Under the watchful eye of local experts, you’ll paint your own ceramic tiles at the authentic craft shop, learning about the ancient art and classic materials as you do so. Best of all, you’ll be able to take the finished product home with you as a keepsake of your holiday.
Come into blossom
A staggering sliver of southwest Italy, the Amalfi Coast is not only revered for its views – but its natural wonders, too. Sheer cliffs tumble down to azure bays; sugar-white sweeps of sand are tucked away in hidden coves. But lesser known is the bounty of its land; plump sfusato lemons and fragrant orange blossom among its treasures. The spa at Casa Angelina is launching a series of new treatments that shine a spotlight on the region’s indigenous ingredients, including the Signature Orange Blossom Ritual – a heavenly foot massage, body scrub and Swedish massage.
A new relaxation terrace is the place to go after your therapy to soak up those uninterrupted vistas of Capri and Positano, while sipping on an orange blossom lemonade (a sample of which you’ll take home with you). And if you want to ramp up the romance, opt for the brand new couples’ treatment room to share the experience with your partner.
A taste of Italy
There’s a new chef in town – and he’s cooking up a storm. Leopoldo Elefante is joining the team at Un Piano Nel Cielo, bringing a wealth of gastronomic experience to his role as executive chef. Born in foodie mecca Campania, Elefante has always been passionate about the flavours of Italy, where fresh seafood, delicate pasta and fragrant herbs reign supreme.
He then cut his culinary teeth at some of Italy’s most esteemed restaurants, including three Michelin-starred Ristorante Reale in Castel Di Sangro. Here, Elefante learnt from the best, working under the guidance of uber-chef Niko Romito and refining his art of cooking.
Sample Elefante’s skills directly by signing up for a bespoke dining experience, where you’ll sit down in conversation with the chef, followed by a three-course surprise meal that offers a taste of the region.
Drinking in the views
The tantalising orange blossom and its humble lemon sibling make another appearance this season – this time on the drinks menu. Just in time for summer, two new floral-based cocktails have been added to the bar’s repertoire, designed to showcase native ingredients from the region. The Orange Blossom Bellini is a colourful concoction of chilled blood orange juice, orange blossom water and prosecco, while the Orange Blossom Gin Fizz adds an irresistible juniper twist, stirring together gin, fresh lemon juice, orange flower water and simple syrup.
For a retake on the classic martini, the Malfy Martini is crafted with Malfy Gin – sourced from a local family-owned distillery – infused with Amalfi and Sicilian lemons for a fresh and zesty aroma. And how best served? With magnificent sea views on the terrace, of course.
